Ways to Give
Parents, grandparents, alumni and their parents, faculty, staff and other supporters of Horizons School have many options to participate in life at Horizons and provide financial support. Horizons relies on this support and involvement to create and maintain our environment of meaningful student development and achievement.
You can make a tax-deductible donation to Horizons by cash or check, with your Visa or Mastercard, by giving online via Paypal or donating appreciated securities.
Annual Fund
Each year, every member of the Horizons School community—alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff and friends—is asked to make a gift to the Annual Fund. The Annual Fund bridges the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Horizons education. These gifts are used to fund current operations based on areas of greatest need. The Annual Fund provides financial aid for worthy students in need, supports elective classes and extracurricular activities and provides a cushion for unexpected expenses not in the budget.
We hope you will give generously to the Annual Fund. Horizons needs every member of the school community to make the school a charitable-giving priority by making a gift. A high rate of participation is an important measure of the breadth of concern and involvement by the school community. Broad, strong support from the school community—particularly parents—also helps to influence the giving decisions of foundations and corporations. Depending on individual financial circumstances, contributions vary from $5 to $10,000 or more. We ask that each constituent give as generously as possible within his or her means. Horizons School needs and appreciates gifts of every size.
In-Kind Donations
Horizons gratefully accepts in-kind donations that can be used for school operations. Computers and technology equipment, books and other educational materials, building and landscaping materials and art supplies are always welcome. We also accept donations of vehicles.
Please be aware that in some situations, for example, when maintenance costs of the donation are prohibitive or if multiple donations of similar items are received, donated items may be sold. Please let the administration know if you have a preference regarding how your gift be used.
Endowments
Horizons has a small endowment upon which we would like to build in order to provide long-term financial stability to the school. We also welcome the establishment of new scholarship fund endowments.
Planned Giving
Those who feel committed to the future of Horizons can include Horizons in their estate plans. By remembering Horizons in your estate or by giving assets now with a deferred benefit, you will be able to provide for the future of Horizons students and may be able to enjoy tax benefits.
Guidelines
All contributions to Horizons School are used in accordance with donor's intentions. Horizons takes care to use donations in ways that maximize their effect/contribution to the Horizons community.
Gifts to Horizons School are accepted through the administration and the board of directors. At certain events, gifts may be collected by other members of the Horizons< community appointed to conduct a fund-raising appeal under the supervision of the administration. All checks or instruments of exchange must be written to “Horizons School” or “The Educational Center for Applied Ekistics, Inc.”
