Boarding
Horizons School attracts students from all over the world. We are one of the few urban schools in the Southeast with a boarding program. Our boarding program stresses the same qualities as our academic program: learning, responsibility and community.
About Our Boarding Program
Horizons’ boarding program is as unique as the rest of our school. The boarding program is small (fewer than 20 students) and houses students from overseas and from the United States. Students share double rooms along our gender-segregated hallways. Live-in dorm parents are on duty 24 hours a day to supervise and assist students.
The boarding program is arranged family style. Each student has cleaning duty and cooking duty. There is a variety of easy-to-prepare foods and ready-made meals for boarding students for breakfast and lunch. Evening meals are made in the communal kitchen by the dorm parent and students who are on cooking duty that evening and shared by all in the dining room. Our students form life-long friendships studying, living and working together.
About Atlanta
Horizons is located in Atlanta, Ga. Atlanta is the capital of the state of Georgia and one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States. More than five million (5,000,000) people call metropolitan Atlanta home. Atlanta has a long history of being a transportation hub and you will find it easy to travel anywhere within the United States and internationally from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. MARTA is Atlanta’s public transportation system consisting of a subway system and bus network. Horizons School is located on a bus line and within a 10-minute walk of the Edgewood/Candler Park Rail Station, so it is easy for students to get around the city.
There are many attractions around the city. Boarding students can spend weekends shopping, visiting cultural attractions like the Atlanta zoo, the High Museum or the Georgia Aquarium, or watching one of Atlanta’s professional sports teams. And especially important for students, Atlanta is home to one of the largest concentrations of colleges and universities in the country.
Horizons School is located in Lake Claire, a small residential neighborhood. There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance of the school.
We believe you will enjoy living and studying at Horizons!

International Students
For such a small school, Horizons enjoys an immensely diverse student body. As in any school, we find our students learn much through peer-to-peer interaction. We highly value the new perspectives our international students bring to Horizons School. International students make up approximately 20 percent of our student body and are an important part of our learning community. Horizons integrates international students into classrooms immediately and supports them in their new learning environment with a comprehensive ESL (English as a Second Language) program. The individual attention all our students receive in our small classes is especially important to English as a Second Language learners and in preparing for university.
For international students wishing to enroll in Horizons School, we are here to assist you with any questions you may have about the school or the F-1 visa process. We look forward to seeing you in Atlanta!
